Immerse yourself in a week of creative writing and a deep-dive into creativity in Cirali this summer!

 

Join Mads Bunch, author, translator, and Director of Skriveskolen for Creative Writing, and the award-winning Danish-American author and filmmaker, Alexander Weinstein, for a week-long immersion into creative writing with craft classes, evening readings, and one-on-one consultations along the incredible coastline of Turkey.

 

Teaching will be in English but you can write/get feedback/mentoring in Danish (Alexander speaks Danish too).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Situated along the beachfront, we will be staying at the Myland Nature Center Hotel, 100 m from the sea, surrounded by mountains and beautiful preserved beaches (photo above) where turtles come to nest!

 

Cirali is a hidden oasis along Turkey's Southwestern Mediterranean coast, a perfect location for exploring your writing, generating new work, and rejuvenating your creativity.

 

We begin the day with morning breakfast, followed by a generative craft class to get you working on the projects you've been wanting to create and finish.

 

Afternoons are open for writing time, having lunch in the local village, and relaxing on the beach, followed by our afternoon seminars.

 

Our classes are perfect for poets, fiction, and non-fiction writers of all levels of experience.

SCHEDULE

 

Sunday, Oct 20: 

Departure CPH Airport 01.20.

Arrival Antalya 06.00 and shuttle to Cirali.

Expected arrival 08.30 in Cirali. 

Settle into rooms/exploring the area/taking a nap.

4 PM: Introduction to the week & Kick Off.

6-7:30 PM: Welcome Dinner

 

Monday, Oct 21:

8-10 am: Breakfast

10-12 am: Morning Craft Seminar

12-4 pm: Afternoon personal writing/lunch/exploration

4-6 pm: Afternoon Craft Seminar & Lecture

Evening open for town exploration/dinner

 

Tuesday, Oct 22:

8-10 am: Breakfast

12-4 pm: Afternoon personal writing/lunch/exploration

Wednesday, Oct 23:

Thursday, Oct 24:

Personal Exploration & Writing Day / Boat Trip along the coastline available, hiking in the surrounding mountains - or just relaxing on the beach. 

 

Friday, Oct 25:

8-10 am: Breakfast

10-12 am: Morning Craft Seminar

12-4 pm: Afternoon personal writing/lunch/exploration

4-6 pm: Afternoon Craft Seminar & Lectures

6:30-7:30 pm: Evening Attendee Readings

Saturday, Oct 26:

8-10 am: Breakfast

10-12 am: Morning Craft Seminar

12-4 pm: Afternoon personal writing/lunch/exploration

4-6 pm: Afternoon Craft Seminar & Lectures

6:30-7:30 pm: Evening Attendee Readings

7:30-9:30 pm: Dinner Celebration

 

Sunday, Oct 27:

Morning: Departure from Cirali with shuttle bus to Antalya Airport.

We expect to in Copenhagen afternoon/early evening.

 

Included in your stay:

All classes, seminars, and one-on-one consultation

Shared Room Lodging in 2 person cabins at Myland Nature Center (limited private rooms available for an additional cost of 2000 kr.)

Breakfasts at Myland Nature Center

Welcome Dinner/Farewell Dinner

Shuttle to/from Antalya Airport with recommended arrivals/departures.

 

Not included:

Airfare (expect an additional 2500 kr. for a round-trip ticket).

Lunches/dinners (with exception of Welcome/Farewell Dinner): Prices are very reasonable, expect 40-50 kr. for a full lunch and 80-100 kr. for dinner incl. starters. 

 

Recommended flights

We will get back to you around May 1, 2024 with recommendations for flights that fit the shuttle-bus to and from Cirali (included in the price).

Cancellation policy:

You will get a full refund if you cancel min. 60 days before the trip starts. If you cancel 59-30 days before the departure date, we will of course do everything we can to find another participant, but if not possible, we need to keep 1/3 of the full price in order to meet our obligations for the booking in Turkey. If you cancel later than 30 thirty days before, we will of course also do everything to find another participant, but we are not able to offer you any refund if we don't find a substitute.
